ALLEGATIONS of theft and of an Indian priest being forced to work as a cook and cleaner have disrupted the serenity of a Melbourne Hindu temple.
There are now calls for an independent audit of the Hindu Society of Victoria after claims of rorts and theft at the Shri Shiva Vishnu temple in Carrum Downs were also raised internally.
Minutes of HSV committee meetings, obtained by the Sunday Herald Sun, show members discussed allegations of “groceries walking out” of the centre, and of “people stealing money”.
